Rent Review

Overview

Clackmannanshire Council is considering whether to change the way that rents are calculated and reclaimed from tenants.

Rents are usually charged based on the characteristics of the home that a tenant lives in, for example:
•    property size (the number of bedrooms)
•    property type (flat/house) or
•    location and property features.

A range of characteristics could potentially be taken into account when setting rents.

The reason that change is being considered is to create a charging system which is simple, fair and consistent across all tenants of Clackmannanshire Council. This means that the same set of rules will apply to all tenants, ensuring that no one pays more or less than they should for the property that they live in and the services they receive.

Clackmannanshire Council want to consult tenants about how to set rents within the main rent for the property. This is a chance to have your say on whether you think this is a good idea.

This is a separate exercise from the annual rent increase.  Our annual rent increase consultation will come later in the year, in November.
